Last evening, our team responded to a serious accident. While attending to this critical situation, we encountered individuals from the public—commonly referred to as rubberneckers—who ignored instructions from our traffic control personnel and bypassed designated barriers. Their goal: to get close enough to take photos. Even more troubling were social media posts about the accident appearing online before the victim's family had even been notified. This behavior is not only appalling—it is deeply disrespectful to the victim and their loved ones. It also interferes with our ability to do our job. When we respond to an emergency, our priorities are clear: securing the scene, providing care, and preserving dignity. We should not have to divert resources to manage bystanders who choose curiosity over compassion. We ask—no, we expect—better from our community. If you come upon an emergency scene, please respect the perimeter, follow the directions of emergency personnel, and think before you post.

Do better.
